Dental Implants

Why Dental Implants?

Losing teeth can significantly impact both your self-confidence and overall oral health. It may lead to complex dental problems like shifting teeth, bite issues, and reduced jawbone density. The absence of a tooth can create extra space, disrupting the alignment of surrounding teeth. Moreover, without a tooth or implant in place, the area around the missing tooth may experience bone loss over time, which can affect future implant treatments. That’s why it’s essential to consider dental implants sooner rather than later.

The good news is that dental implants offer a reliable and long-lasting solution to tooth loss. At True North Family Dental Care, we provide comprehensive dental implant treatments to restore your smile’s balance and ensure optimal oral health. Let us help you regain your confidence and enjoy a healthy, complete smile with our advanced dental implant services. Feel free to reach out to us for more information or to explore your options further!

A dental implant is a fantastic solution for replacing missing teeth, where an artificial tooth is securely supported by a titanium metal anchor. This anchor acts as a replacement for the natural tooth root and is carefully inserted into the jawbone.

Whether you have a single missing tooth, several gaps, or even an entire upper or lower jaw to restore, dental implants offer a wonderful option. Implant-supported teeth and dentures are known for their exceptional patient satisfaction, closely resembling real teeth in both function and appearance.

If you're considering tooth replacement options, dental implants might be the perfect fit for you.

Reach out to us today and let's explore whether dental implants are the right choice to restore your beautiful smile and dental function. We're here to answer any questions you may have!

The duration of the healing process can vary from person to person, typically ranging from 2 to 9 months. Several factors influence this timeline, such as the patient's age, the length of time the tooth has been missing, overall oral health, and general well-being.

For those who have a missing anterior tooth (a visible tooth), there's a wonderful option available. You can choose to wear a temporary appliance that visually replaces the tooth until the treatment is fully completed. This way, you can maintain your smile's aesthetics during the healing period. Rest assured, we'll work closely with you to ensure a smooth and successful dental implant journey!

Anyone can be a candidate if you have a missing tooth and desire it to be replaced. However, there are specific requirements that must be met to qualify for dental implant surgery. To determine your candidacy, a number of factors are considered, such as:

  • Bone density

  • Overall health of the teeth and gums

  • Position of sinuses, blood vessels, and nerves

During your initial consultation, our dentists will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your teeth, gums, and jaw joints. We will also take x-rays or scans to evaluate the health and density of your underlying jawbone. By gathering all the necessary information, we can discuss your concerns and oral health goals in detail. If you are eligible for dental implants, we will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Dental cleaning falls under basic dental procedures and almost all the dental insurances cover basic treatments. However, there may be a patient's portion or deductible associated. Our office accept most of the dental insurances. Please give us a call so we can help you to find out more about your insurance.

Botox Dermal Injection

What is dermal injection?

Dermal injection is a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium A. Botulinum toxin can relax the muscles on areas of the face and neck which cause wrinkles associated with facial expressions or facial pain.

Treatment with botulinum toxin can cause your facial expression lines or wrinkles to be less noticeable or essentially disappear

Neurotoxin injection and dentistry

These injections has been increasingly used as an alternative treatment for TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) disorders and associated jaw tension and pain. When injected into facial muscles afflicted with soreness and discomfort, it relieves TMJ, jaw tension, and teeth grinding for many patients.

As a non-surgical procedure, the treatment requires no hospital stay. Most patients experience noticeable improvement within one or two days of their first treatment, although relief can take up to a week.

a) glabellar area of frown lines, located between the eyes
b) crow’s feet (lateral areas of the eyes
c) forehead wrinkles
d) radial lip lines (smokers lines)
e) head and neck muscles.

Injection is diluted to a very controlled solution and when injected into the muscles with a very thin needle, it is almost painless. Patients may feel a slight burning sensation while the solution is being injected. The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes and the results can last up to 3 months. With repeated treatments, the results may tend to last longer.

Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are fixed onto teeth to enhance appearance, and in some cases, to protect the teeth. Porcelain veneers are stronger than composite veneers and do not change in colour or stain. More often than not, porcelain veneers are a popular choice to fix cosmetic problems. This can include making slight position alterations, or to change the tooth shape, size and/or colour.

Porcelain veneers can usually be completed in 2-3 visits. During your first visit, your dentist will give you a local anesthetic to freeze the area that is being worked on. Then, a thin layer of the enamel from your teeth is removed to make room for the veneers. Your dentist then takes a mold of your teeth and sends it off to a laboratory. Because labs often take a couple of weeks to make the custom veneers, your dentist will place temporary veneers to replace the portion of the tooth that was removed.

During the next visit, your dentist will remove the temporary veneers and replace them with the custom permanent ones. These veneers are glued on to your teeth one by one, using composite resin cement.

Although porcelain veneers are an attractive fix to certain dental problems, not everyone in suitable for the procedure. In some cases, your dentist might recommend other treatment options. Some of these situations include but are not limited to:

  • If a tooth has decay or is in an area that has periodontal disease. These problems must be treated first.

  • If a tooth has little enamel left, a veneer will not stick to it properly.

  • If too much of the tooth is missing, a crown may be a better option.

  • If a person grinds or clenches his or her teeth. This habit is called bruxism and can chip or break porcelain veneers.
